The Head Coach of Kumasi Asante Kotoko has resigned from the Club after losing by a goal to nil to archrivals Accra Hearts Oakin the Glo Premier League clash at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium on Sunday October 31.
A source close to the team told Citi FM that the Coach’s decision came after a high level meeting of the Club’s management team on the morning of Monday November 1.
Fans of the club openly expressed their disappointment at the performance of the team and called for the head of Ebo Mends minutes after the game.
In 1999, Coach Ebo Mends was sacked under similar circumstances after he lost by one goal to nil against Hearts of Oak at the Kumasi Sports Stadium.
Following his exit, some names have been mentioned as possible replacements, including former Heart of Lions boss Hans Van Der Plyum.
The Dutch Coach, who has also appeared on several occassions on Citi FM's sports programmes, told Citi Sports he is ready for the job.
Meanwhile the embattled Ex Kotoko Boss, Coach Ebo Mends has told Citi Sports he was not
sacked but resigned because of his conviction that his continued stay at the club could jeopardize its fortunes.
“I have decided to move on to allow the club to move forward. It appears my continuous stay will cause some problems” he said.
