Management of the University of Ghana say last Saturday’s massive leakage of its mature students’ entrance exam papers came as a surprise to the institution.
Last Saturday’s leakage of exams papers is the first to be recorded by the university since 2004, when it was rocked by a major examination leakage.
The leaked papers have been cancelled and Police are investigating more than thirty candidates in connection with the leakage. The university is also setting up a committee to assess the incident and decide its next line of action, as regards the mature students’ entrance exams.
“It was a big surprise to some of us, especially those of us who handle examination questions because we put everything in place to ensure that we don’t have a leakage, but it turned out to be the other the other way round,” Enoch Amartey, director of the University’s academic affairs directorate, told Citi News.
“We need to get the police report and see what actually went wrong. During the week, the university will sit down and look at what we have been doing, whether we are not doing anything right."
The students will be told by the end of the week when they can sit for the exams after the University’s Executive Committee meets, he told Citi News.
He says last Saturday’s incident signals the need for the university to be vigilant with its upcoming end of semester exams for its students.
