DSP Amos Yelsong posed as an armed robber with other colleague police personnel


The Nima Divisional Crime Officer, DSP Amos Yelsong, who allegedly posed as an armed robber with other colleague police personnel, has arrested two suspected armed men who planned to attack a plastic chair manufacturing industry at the North Industrial Area.

The suspects, Eric Coffie- 24, a machine operator and Solomon Baligah- 20, tried to rob the company with the help of other armed men who turned out to be policemen.
According to information available to DAILY GUIDE, the two contacted the policemen on November 3, 2010, to pose as armed robbers, and help them rob Comfortplast Ghana Limited with guns.
They then agreed to carry out the robbery operation on November 5, 2010 morning at 8:30pm. The two were however caught in the act by the police at North Industrial Area.Confirming the story to the paper, the Nima Divisional Crime Officer, DSP Amos Yelsong, noted that on November 3, 2010, the Nima Divisional Intelligence team had
information that Eric Coffie, a machine operator at Comfortplast Ghana Limited at North Industrial Area, conspired with his brother Solomon Baligah to rob the company.
He noted that Eric Coffie then sent his accomplice, Solomon Baliga, to Nima to recruit armed robbers to help them carry out the operation on November 5, 2010.
“The Nima Divisional Command, in collaboration with the Director General, CID Headquarters, intelligently processed the information.”
Led by DSP Yelsong, the police personnel posed as armed robbers and contacted the two to help them carry out their mission.
He said suspect Eric, on the day of the robbery, placed a ladder behind a wall of the director’s window and his accomplice led the disguised policemen there, and told them to climb and rob the director with guns.
“He was immediately arrested at the scene and led the police to arrest his accomplice Eric Coffie.”
DSP Yelsong noted that upon interrogation, the two admitted to the offence in their statements.
He noted that the two would be put before court soon.
